Welcome to the nursery rhymes you were never meant to hear.
Whispers in Static is my fantasy-horror magazine and podcast hybrid β a monthly descent into stories that donβt just haunt... they echo. Each issue unearths three featured voices from the shadows β a writer, a whisperer, a truth-teller β with a tale that hums beneath your skin. The top choice for each week will then be highlighted on the Whispers In Static Podcast monthly, where Bradley Ramsey and I discuss why our top picks are our top picks.
Itβs where forgotten nursery rhymes bleed into prophecy.
Where ghosts arenβt dead, just waiting.
And every month, the veil thins β just enough β to let something crawl through.
Why now?
Because stories like these donβt wait.
Because some of us were born between frequencies.
And because the static has been building for years β
This is the moment we finally listen.
To the ones who feel too much, dream too loud, or remember what they shouldnβt β
You are home now.
β¨ First issue drops soon.
β¨ One voice. One story. Once a month.
β¨ Embedded podcast + written feature.
β¨ Subscribe for the scream under the nursery rhyme.

Prompt: Gothic Nursery Rhyme
Edition (Issue #1)
Write a nursery rhyme that no mother should recite.
Set in a crumbling manor, whispered by a dying tree, or embedded in the hum of a broken monitor.
Your story can take the form of a poem, flash fiction, or narrative monologue.
But it must feel like a nursery rhyme β with rhythm, beauty, and something that shouldnβt be there.
Let the sweetness rot. Let the comfort bite back.
Let the voice telling itβ¦ not be who we think it is.β
Word count: up to 1500.

Hi. I just noticed on the submission form it asks how closely it adheres to the "cold comes calling" theme, but I don't see mention of that in this post. Is that also part of the prompt?
Ohhhh I am so ready for this π
